Consultative Workshop on Provision of National Strategy of Access to Information (ATI)

On January 10, 2017, AJO Public Awareness Manager participated in the Consultative Workshop on Provision of National Strategy of Access to Information (ATI).

OCAI plan to develop a National Strategy for Access to ensure rapid and comprehensive implementation of the ATI law brining in all stakeholders together to jointly develop a strategy and partake in its implementation.

The Participants Representing the Government, Entities of International Community, CSOs and OCAI Members attended the session, where two international ATI Experts lead the workshop.  

Afghanistan is one of the 114 countries of the world that has passed an Access to Information (ATI) law and among 65 countries that have a commission for enforcing ATI law. ATI law took more than five years to be passed into a law after a first draft was prepared by Afghan as one of his first steps after  The law was signed off by President Ashraf Ghani. civil society he took office in late 2014.
